How big is my tarantula?

The proper way hobbyists measure tarantulas in the United States is by “DLS” or Diagonal leg-span. 

In laymen’s terms, if your tarantula’s limbs were stretched, how far is the distance from their furthest leg to the end of the other furthest leg.

Some babies at birth (2nd instar) can be as tiny as 1/8 of an inch like dwarf species, but most other tarantula babies will start at closer to ½ an inch to ¾ of an inch.  It all depends on the tarantula species.
